Book Review: A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like

Ever since I was little, I've been self-conscious of my body. It wasn't until last year that I found some great resources that helped me be more comfortable with my body, such as the #BeautyBeyondSize on Instagram where women of all shapes and sizes post themselves being fully confident with how they look. Mentioned in my opinionated mind article, 'Is there too much "pressure" for girls to have the perfect body?', one of my role models is Ashley Graham. She's a huge activist for body positivity and was the first plus size model on Sports Illustrated's swimsuit cover back in 2016. A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like  by Ashley Graham tells her story of how she rose to be one of the most famous models in the world and all of the struggles that women can relate to   today, such as a love of food and a lack of self-esteem. All spread out in chapters that are specifically designated, it's not hard to keep up with what'...

Book Review: The Five People you meet in Heaven/The Next Person you meet in Heaven

*Minor spoilers will be revealed; this is your warning* After I had finished reading Tuesdays with Morrie, I was obsessed with Mitch Albom and I wanted to read more of his books. (Link to that review at the bottom of this post). Mitch Albom knew how to make a good story feel personable and lively. The Five People you meet in Heaven is about a war veteran named Eddie who lives a mundane life, working at a carnival. When a ride breaks down, he saves a little girl, sacrificing his own life. Heaven though, is not a magical place floating on the clouds with majestic angels and gleaming golden gates. Instead, Heaven is a place where five people who've impacted your life in some ...

Book Review: Orphan Train

Earlier this year, I was up in Fargo, North Dakota and I came across a variety store called Zanbroz. In this store, there is a little something for everyone. By my nature, I gravitated to the book section and stumbled across the book Orphan Train.  On the cover of the last book I had just finished, The Orphans Tale,  a lot of reviews had compared that book to Orphan Train,  and even the author of Orphan Train,  had written a review saying what an amazing book it was. How could I go wrong? I had loved the last book and if people were comparing that to this book, I definitely had to check it out and see what the hype was all about. Let me just say that it was one of the best $16 purchases I've ever made. Orphan Train  by Christina Baker Kline combines the modern world (of 2011) and the early 1930's an...
